The 3rd Annual Detroit Music Festival has teamed up with the Cincinnati music festival to "throw down in Motown" with 2 days of musical fun and flavor. The festival will be kicking off on August 1 and 2, 2003 at Comerica Park. Tickets go on sale May 2, 2003. This year's sponsors are Greektown Casino and Pelle Pelle Apparel.
"It is an honor that our great city has been selected as the venue for this annual event that showcases African American artists and music," said Detroit's Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick. This year's artist line up includes R. Kelly, P. Diddy, Ron Isley and the Isley Brothers, Frankie Beverly and Maze, India Irie, O'Jays, 4 Tops, Whispers, Temptations, Gap Band and more to be announced. DMF recently launched their new dot net website offering visitors the opportunity to purchase tickets, enter a virtual contest, view artist line up, submit comments and much more festival news. "It's a new day and as excited as we are about our Cincinnati Festival partnership and the artist line up, we are just as excited about the strong web presence DMF now offers to festival goers and to DMF sponsors. DMF is also supporting the US Troops this year. DMF will be offering a limited number of free tickets to active military personnel.
